Guess what!? It’s Thurs(almost Fri)day!
Last Friday, I attended a super fun trivia night in support of The Vita Centre. This was an extra special appearance for me because I have been working closely with them for the past few years.
Last November, I even collected over 100 boxes of diapers and had them donated to this center via school bus.
For those who don’t know, the “Vita Centre is a charitable organization dedicated to providing life affirming community support to all pregnant and parenting women in Peel. Vita Centre takes leadership in promoting awareness and understanding of the impact of (un)planned pregnancy on families and the community” (Vita Centre, 2013, ¶1). I have had the pleasure of meeting some of the mothers who directly benefit from the center and can honestly say that it makes a large impact on their lives. There is no way to describe how proud I feel knowing that I have made such a positive difference in my own community.
The event encouraged each team to dress up for a fun night of trivia (the St Patrick’s team and Jammie’s and Stuffies were most definitely my favorites)! I was even lucky enough to say a few words. At this time, I talked about my reign as Miss Teenage Ontario and how pageants have led me to create a platform regarding the cause that I feel the most passionate about.
It was great to be able to share some of my experiences with volunteering and advocate for my charity Diapers 4Smiles. I met many great new contacts that night and cannot wait to see what I will be able to accomplish next for the Vita Centre. I would like to thank all of the staff for welcoming me into their family and always giving me an opportunity to share what I have done for them with the public. They are the most kind-hearted people I know and great supporters of all that I do.
I look forward to more great events with them and another diaper collection in the near future.
Always thinking positively…
Until next Thursday,
